School Leaders determine up to 25% impact on student learning, second only to impact of teachers in the classroom. However the critical position of school leaders in our schools does not always get the requisite structural support, autonomy and capacity building. Whilst the majority of traditional philanthropic education funding has been mobilized in supporting innovative teaching methods, the fundamental leadership and organisation of schools is questioned far less frequently. This comes despite the swathe of research indicating that student performance targets and effective teaching in high-performing schools cannot be achieved without well-skilled school leaders. This discussion will incorporate varied perspectives on the design and delivery of leadership training in schools, and why it is a crucially underestimated issue.
- Focus on Instructional Leadership- transition from teaching to a school leadership role
- Structural mechanisms to support leadership position in schools, in terms of roles & responsibilities, recruitment & induction, and autonomy & decision-making
- Design elements and enabling tools to run effective leadership training programmes
Deal Share Live
At this Summit, we would incorporate the sharing of two Deal Share Live participants in each breakout session.

The and are Social Purpose Organisations (SPOs) listed on the Deal Share Platform, and will lend their perspectives on how they are working with resource providers to create social impact through their implementation work on the ground. Integrating the Deal Share Live into each breakout session would create a more robust discussion in examining what might have worked, what didn’t and what’s next; in relation to what the panel is sharing.
